Paul N. Smith

[2010] Spouse: Anngail Smith, Lives in Canyon Lake, Texas, 2 sons, 1 granddaughter

I graduated from the University of Illinois with a B. of Architecture and was married in January 1966. Went to work at my first job with the Austin Company, a national engineering/construction firm near Chicago. They transferred me to their Houston office in 1969. In 1973, I tried retailing, an art store. In 1974, I went to work at the Johnson Space Center. In 1977 opened an architects office. In 1979 worked for a mining and ready-mix concrete company as corporate estimator. In 1982, I went back to Johnson Space Center. In 1985, I was enticed to work for the City of Seabrook, Texas, to clean up and organize their Building Dept. In 1996, I became Director of Community Services for the City of Santa Fe, Texas.

Retired in 2004 and moved to Canyon Lake in the Hill Country of Texas where we had a camp house. Spent the next couple of years converting the camp house into a permanent residence. We have since done a little traveling, with an Alaskan cruise, a couple of trips to Victoria, B.C. (our favorite location), and numerous trips to Indiana with side trips to Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Louisiana, Georgia, Alabama and Florida.

We are contemplating a trip to Nova Scotia but are putting off this trip for a "formal" wedding for Son No. 1 this summer (to enhance the original JP wedding) and another for Son No. 2 next year. We now have a granddaughter, Kinsey, who we met at birth in Portland, Oregon, and are looking forward to seeing again this summer.

I managed to get a large shop to play in and enjoy reading and messing with a computer, running around in my Mini Cooper S and Piaggio motor scooter (easing off from 40 years of motorcycles).

Anngail continues to consult for a Hospital-oriented software company after retiring from 25 years as the Risk Manager for the University of Texas Medical Branch, a multi-hospital facility in Galveston.

We're having fun!
