Former teacher, R. Evans, dies

Services for Ralph A. Evans, 81, of 2520 Ojibway Trail, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Simpson United Methodist Church. He died Thursday in Lutheran Hospital.

Mr. Evans, a native of Payne, Ohio, served as a principal in Whitley County 18 years. He taught eight years in Arcola and was a teacher at Elmhurst High School eight year before retiring in 1962.

Surviving are his wife, Merle D.; one daughter, Mrs. David A. Cowdrey Jr., Fort Wayne; two brothers, Dr. Arthur Evans, Gary, and Everitt Evans, Denver; and a sister, Mrs. Agnes Mawborger, Wawaka.

Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Chalfant-Perry-Klaehn Funeral Home. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
