Lester A. Doell, 79, of Fort Wayne died Saturday at Lutheran Hospital.

He retired as president of Brudi Stone & Gravel Co. in 1981 after 20 years of service. He formerly was the band director at Elmhurst High School for 17 years. He was past president of Foster Park Lions Club in 1973 and 1974, and past district president of the Lions Club in Indiana. His first wife, Maxine M., died in 1993.

Surviving are his wife, Wilhelmina E.; a daughter, Jacquelyn L. Doell of St. Simons Island, Ga.; a son Thomas A. of Fort Wayne; a stepdaughter, Lisa A. Hensler of Columbia City; stepsons, Harry J. McGinnis of Maywood, Ill., and Kevin McGinnis of Fort Wayne; and four grandchildren.

Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 1819 Reservation Drive, with calling one hour before services. Calling is also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 S. Joe Road. Burial will be in Covington Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are to the church carillon fund.
