Arthur F. Gerwig, 89, of Adams County died yesterday in La Residencia Nursing Center in Santa Fe, N.M.
The Wells County native was a former teacher at Ossian and Elmhurst high schools and basketball coach in Wells and Adams counties. He was the widower of Desdelora, who died in 1983.
Surviving are his son, Jerry of Decatur; a daughter, Jovanna Poe of El Prado, N.M.; a brother, Loren of Hastings, Minn.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Services are Aug. 15 at the home of Jerry and Adella Gerwig, 103 S. 4th St., Decatur. There is no calling. Arrangements are by Zwick-Sefton & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur.
