PRUDENCE A. "PRUE" OBERLIN, 79, died Sunday at Harborside Healthcare, New Haven. Born in Butler, she was an English teacher for 16 years at Elmhurst High School, retiring in 1978. She was also a teacher in Bryant and Butler. Surviving are her husband, Verl; her daughter, Mary Petersen of Etna Green; four sons, John and Joseph, both of New Haven, James of Fort Wayne and Thomas of Woodburn; two sisters, Betty Smith of Fort Wayne and Hildreth Sanders of Evansville; and 13 grandchildren. Services at 11 a.m. Thursday at E. Harper & Son Funeral Home, 740 Indiana 930 E., New Haven. Calling from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Burial in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, New Haven. Memorials to Heartland Home Care and Hospice.
